The HESO seeks to hire a Community-based Organization (CBO) Health Department Partnership Project Manager to support planning and implementation of the Kaiser Permanente-funded project, Strengthening the Interface of Public Health and Community Based Organizations. The CBO Project Manager will play a vital role in leveraging their existing professional networks to identify and convene CBO and state/local public health partners. The CBO Project Manager will use equity-driven engagement approaches to collaborate across community, public, and private sector partners and to support the facilitation of cross-sector conversations that result in actionable recommendations and an endorsed implementation roadmap for effective partnerships. The CBO Project Manager role is expected to work part-time at 75% FTE for up to 15 months, and is eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as short- and long-term disability benefits. This role is eligible for remote work.

BackgroundThe CDC Foundation helps the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) save and improve lives by unleashing the power of collaboration between CDC, philanthropies, corporations, organizations, and individuals to protect the health, safety, and security of America and the world. The Health Equity and Strategy Office (HESO) is responsible for the integration of the CDC Foundation Health Equity Strategy for Impact that aims to support public health workforce development, build the capacity of community-based organizations, and enhance integration of public health systems.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in public health or a related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of public health experience at the national, state, and/or local level.
  • Experience working within or partnering with community-based organizations (CBOs) supporting public health and health equity initiatives.
  • Understanding of local and/or state governmental public health organization opportunities and challenges.
  • Knowledge of coalition-building approaches that foster public-private partnership between CBOs, the private sector, and state and local public health departments.
  • Advanced skills in project management, budget management, reporting, contracting, cross-cultural awareness communication, influence, negotiation, conflict resolution, and creative problem solving.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing, writing, and editing complex documents such as detailed reports to donors; briefing documents for CDC, donors, and other community-based partners; and peer-reviewed articles.
  • Ability to represent the CDC Foundation and its partners, leading discussions and negotiations concerning project planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills; collegial, energetic, and able to develop productive relationships with colleagues, donors, community organizations, and public health department partners.
