As a Web Developer at IU, you will be creating cutting-edge, responsive user experiences. This includes developing, building, and implementing custom applications as well as maintaining websites, practicing iterative improvement, and consulting on new solutions and technologies. The Web Developer’s core responsibilities include overseeing the successful creation, execution, and maintenance of all IU internal and partner digital properties.
The web team at IU is part of our larger Experience team, an all-star cast of designers, creatives, and developers, so a good eye for design and an understanding of a project’s overarching concept is crucial. This includes understanding how elements need to translate cross-platform (web to mobile to social to IRL) as well as brainstorming novel ways to use technology to tell stories. An ideal Web Developer is passionate about creating meaningful, intuitive digital experiences. We want someone who is excited about IU’s online platforms, who has a growth mindset and a great attitude, who gives and receives feedback well, and who cares about working on projects that matter.

- Work with a wide range of technologies, platforms, and languages. Must have experience with Ruby on Rails, Vue.js, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Experience using APIs to build integrated applications is a plus.
- Understand and implement UI/UX design principles and best practices. Experience with Figma is a plus.
- Provide daily and detailed status updates on IU internal/partner properties. Call out risks and impediments early and loudly.
- Work closely with other departments to refine operational workflows and foster comprehension of partner web needs. Translating technical jargon and breaking down complicated concepts into plain English is a must.
- Assist with work estimation to ensure timely delivery of all web needs in conjunction with the expected timeline(s). Experience with agile and/or monday.com is a plus.
- Keep up with current digital trends, technologies, and landscapes.
