Domain: insurance. OSIV is used to maintain all insured persons and addresses who have created a request for support to help dealing with a permanent or temporary disability. The range of support is wide and can also be of non-financial type such as helping the requestor to find another job in case he/she can’t work anymore in the current job. The process starts with an initial request by the person. The request can be submitted by phone, letters or a personal visit. A clerk enters all information to the system. Depending on the kind of request, the clerk(s) involved in the case, might ask for additional information or confirmation at the requestor’s employer or doctor, etc. The goal is to find out whether the person as a valid point submitting such a request. Depending on the law, some requests may be accepted, others may be rejected. When such a decision is taken by the government, legal disputes are a common part of the process. All communication, decisions etc happening within the request-decision process, are maintained in OSIV.
