POSITIONChildren’s Rehabilitation Technical ConsultantANTICIPATED DURATION3 months (March 2024 - May 2024)LOCATIONInternational with travel to Tbilisi, GeorgiaCONTACT;Project BackgroundThe Health Systems Strengthening Accelerator (Accelerator) is a global initiative funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through a Cooperative Agreement, with co-funding from the Bill amp; Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF). Its goal is to strengthen institutions and processes, build local expertise, and support countries as they co-create, innovate, and adapt, in order to build more effective and sustainable health system interventions on their journeys to self-reliance. The program’s approach supports local partners as they lead implementation and find their own pathways to meaningful and lasting health systems change. The Accelerator is led by Results for Development and is implemented in Georgia by Curatio International Foundation. The Inclusive Development Hub of USAID’s Bureau for Development, Democracy, and Innovation (DDI) has engaged with the Accelerator to provide technical and analytical assistance to the Government of Georgia in strengthening systems and institutions for rehabilitation. The main goal of the project is to improve financial protection for rehabilitation among Georgian people, according to population need. The project is supporting the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia (the Ministry) to review and provide strategic policy advice on the improvement of the children’s rehabilitation/habilitation sub-program, under the State Program for Social Rehabilitation and Childcare.Scope of WorkR4D is seeking an international consultant who will support the Accelerator in providing technical and analytical assistance to the Ministry on the children’s rehabilitation program. This consultancy will focus on reviewing and providing strategic advice on the rehabilitation interventions and programs for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).The main objective of this support is to provide strategic policy advice to the Ministry on how to improve the existing program to achieve better equity and quality outcomes for beneficiaries. Specifically, the consultant will support the Accelerator’s efforts in reviewing the existing program and providing advice on the types of services and facility standards necessary to improve sub-program effectiveness and users’ care experiences.Specific tasks may include:
