The CDC Foundation seeks a full-time Health Scientist to collaborate with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) scientists and fellows on a portfolio of research studies to strengthen the evidence base of effective approaches (program, policy, or practice) for the primary prevention of youth- or adult-perpetrated child sexual abuse (CSA). The objectives of this program will include developmental and formative research activities to prepare funded recipients for rigorous outcome evaluation research. The incumbent will contribute to the development of publications and other products to promote dissemination of research findings; and inform CDC’s sharing of evidence-based CSA prevention approaches in prevention resources for action and guidance provided to CDC-funded recipients.
The incumbent will be employed by the CDC Foundation and work closely with the CDC’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, Division of Violence Prevention. This position is funded for 18 months with the opportunity for extension up to 4 additional years.
This position is eligible for 100% remote work for US-based candidates. Relocation expenses are not included. Some domestic travel will be required.Required Qualifications and Necessary Skills- Master’s degree in psychology, sociology, public health, epidemiology, evaluation or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant post-graduate work experience for applicants with a Master’s degree; or 1 year of combined graduate or post-graduate work experience for applicants with a PhD.
- Strong project planning and organizational skills, and a high capability of tracking, summarizing, and reporting project activities. Experience in the field of child sexual abuse (CSA) prevention, child abuse and neglect (CAN) prevention, and/or the prevention of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
- Experience leading or contributing significantly to publications and presentations and disseminating findings to a variety of audiences.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly detail oriented, ability to work independently or collaboratively within a diverse team, ability to demonstrate a high degree of initiative and flexibility, and able to prioritize and work under tight deadlines.
- Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills; collegial, energetic, and able to develop productive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and federal and non-federal partners.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills- Knowledge and experience in qualitative research analytic approaches.
- Experience using qualitative software packages including but not limited to Dedoose, Nvivo or ATLAS.ti.
- Knowledge and experience analyzing data using quantitative analytic statistical approaches.
- Experience using statistical software packages including but not limited to SPSS, SAS, M-Plus, Stata or R.
- Knowledge and experience evaluating programs and interventions for preventing CSA, CAN, and/or ACEs.
- Knowledge and experience in methods to conduct scientific literature reviews including meta-analyses. A track record of scientific productivity demonstrating strong skills in methodology and study design.
